You must be admitted to the Teaching Program to take upper-level EDCI courses:
EDCI 403: Teaching Reading in the Content Area – required for teacher certification in Louisiana
EDCI 434: Diverse Learners – required for teacher certification in Louisiana
EDCI 416C: Apprentice Teaching/Clinical Residency
To apply to the Teaching Program: (1) Submit completed Teaching Program Application with supporting documentation. You must have an ACT of 22 or Praxis Core Passing Scores to apply to the teaching program. See the application for all requirements. The link to the Teaching Program Application is on the CRRC webpage: https://latechcrrc.org (2) Register for EDCI 100. Once you are admitted to the teaching program, you will be registered for EDCI 100, a 0-credit course that signifies you are in the teaching program and can take upper-level EDCI courses.
Clinical Residency
You must complete a 3-quarter Clinical Residency for teacher certification in Louisiana. If you plan to do Clinical Residency school year: (1) Apply for the TEAM Model Clinical Residency Program by mid November. The link to the Residency Application is on the CRRC webpage: https://latechcrrc.org (2)Pass Praxis II Subject Assessment andPraxis Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) Exam Gr 7–12 and receive scores by June 1! (but sooner is better!). Link to information on required PRAXIS exams and scores on the ETS webpage: https://www.ets.org/praxis/la/requirements/ Online study materials are available through the CRRC. Test Retake Policy: If you do not receive a passing score, you may retake a Praxis test once every 35 days, not including your initial test date. For example, if you take a test on the 1st of the month, you cannot take it again until the 5th day of the following month, assuming 31 days in a month.
